Pretoria Portland Cement Company Ltd. (PPC)

Cemlock (Gauteng) (Pty) Ltd.

I.D.M. Cement (Pty) Ltd.

The ACMP acts as an umbrella body for six South African clinker and cementitious material producer companies, specifically guiding and
representing these companys’ interests in the fields of environmental stewardship, health and safety practices and community and stakeholder interaction.

The ACMP and the Cement and Concrete Institute (C&CI) arose as two independent organisations following the dissolution of the South African Cement Producers Association (SACPA) in 2002.

In so far as the C&CI focuses essentially on the end use of cement and concrete, consumer needs and related issues, the ACMP’s focus is primarily on non-commercial, industry related issues. The association also lobbies government, parastatals and other industry stakeholders.

It does this on behalf of its members on issues of national interest, acting as a mouthpiece for the industry on matters of common interest.
These relate to issues such as:

  • Environmental management co-operative agreements

  • Industry participation on Government working groups and stakeholder workshops

  • Setting industry standards for emission, health and safety

  • Establishing industry training courses

  • Reducing the industry’s dependence on non-renewable fuels, and

  • The promotion of the World Business Council for Sustainable

  • Development Cement-Sustainability Initiative

Progress aligned with these initiatives form the Key Performance Areas (KPA’s) of the following ACMP working committees:

  • The Environmental Committee

  • The Secondary Materials Working Group

  • The Cement, Lime, Aggregates and Sand Education Committee, and

  • The Logistics Committee.
